Central High School Powerlifting Titans

Central High School senior, Luke Miller came home with the Division I 1st Place Gold Medal in the 275 lb. weight class at the 2023 LHSAA State Powerlifting Meet.

Miller broke the record for  total weight lifted at 1,785 lbs. He also broke the bench press record at 500 lbs. Luke pulled 635 lbs. on deadlift and had a 650 lb. squat.

Luke is now listed as one of the All-Time Top 50 Males in Louisiana High School Powerlifting and has been recognized by The Advocate in their Star of Stars Sports Awards as the Boys Powerlifting Star Award Winner

Central’s Kadien Lang competed in the 242 lb. weight class and was awarded the 2nd Place Silver Medal. Lang’s total weight was 1,730 lbs., with a 700 lb. squat, deadlift at 600 lbs. and bench press of 430 lbs. 

Kaiden was also named Central High School’s Student of the Year and was recognized during an award program by the Department of Educcation in Baton Rouge at the Capitol Park Museum as a Student of the Year finalist for Region 8.  

Also competing for Central High School in the Girl’s 2023 LHSAA State Powerlifting Meet in the Division I was freshman Arden Lang. Arden placed 7th with a total weight of 570 lbs. with a 230 lb. squat, a bench press of 130 lbs. and a deadlift of 210 lbs. 

Central Private also competed in the LHSAA State Powerlifting Meet in Division V. Travis Cooks of Central Private took 5th place in the 181 lb. weight class with a total weight of 1,170, including a squat of 415 lbs., bench press of 300 lbs., and deadlift of 455 lbs. 

William Browning competed in the 165 lb. weight class and came in 5th place with a total weight of 1,145. His squat high was 465 lbs., bench press 250 lbs., and deadlift 430 lbs. 

Central Private freshman Jackson Buuch competed in the 132 lb. weight class and lifted a total weight of 715, with a squat high of 275 lbs., bench press of 150 lbs., and a deadlift of 290. 

Central Private 7th grader, Jacob Blackwell competed in the 114 lb. weight class with a total of 500 lbs., and a squat at 170 lbs. 

In the Girls 2023 LHSAA Division V for Central Private were two young ladies. Freshman Aiyla Martin took 5th place in the 220 lb. weight class with a total weight of 495 lbs. Her squat high was 165 lbs., bench press was 90 lbs., and her deadlift high was 240 lbs.  Freshman Lexanne Pitre took 6th place in the 97 lb. weight class with a total weight of 315 lbs., which included a squat of 125 lbs., bench press of 55 lbs., and a deadlift high of 135 lbs.
