Leaders Help Raise Money for Soldiers
For the past two decades, Wayne Leader and his wife Diane have opened their home on Hooper Road to the public each December, creating an “old-fashioned Christmas” experience that has become a cherished holiday tradition in Central.
Their elaborate Christmas light display draws visitors of all ages and has brought joy to the community for 20 years, a milestone they reached in 2025.
During this past holiday season, visitors to the display generously donated a total of $717.04 in support of the Geaux 7 Chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America. These public donations will help further one of the chapter’s mission of supporting the deployed military by sending a little something from home.
The Geaux 7 Chapter is deeply grateful to the Leaders for their continued generosity and to every member of the community who stopped by, admired the lights, and gave from the heart. This is a true example of how a beloved local tradition can shine far beyond the holiday season.
The Leaders reside at 12414 Hooper Road in Central.
Kathy Baker is president of Geaux Seven Blue Star Mothers, Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc.
