Central Elections This Fall
All of Central’s city officials are up for election this year. Qualifying for Mayor, Police Chief, and seven seats on the Central City Council will be held July 29-31. The primary is set for Nov. 3 and the runoff Dec. 12.
Central city officials will be chosen under the state’s Open Primary system, which has been in effect since 1975, rather than the new Closed Primary system that currently only applies to certain races.
Central Mayor Wade Evans’ term will end December 31, 2026, but he has not confirmed whether he will run for election.
Police Chief Roger Corcoran already has two opponents, Paul Kimble and Larry “Lew” Walters.
Central’s two at-large members of the City Council are Aaron McKinney and Josh Roy. So far, they have no opposition.
District Council members are:
District No. 1 – Tim Lazaroe
District No. 2 – J.D. Lavergne
District No. 3 – Dr. Kim Fralick
District No. 4 -D’Ann Wells
District No. 5 – Briton Myer
Dr. Fralick announced her intention not to seek reelection. Subsequently, former Councilman Dave Freneaux announced his intention to seek the seat. All current officials are Republicans except Dr. Fralick who is an Independent.
