Wildcats Shine in Annual Spring Game
CENTRAL — The Central Wildcats had their way with Northside of Lafayette in last Thursday’s spring football game at Wildcat Stadium.
Central’s offensive coordinator David Simoneaux said was very pleased with the team’s progress, and he praised the work of the team.  Simoneaux’s offense showed outstanding speed.  Several running backs ran for long gains.  Speedster Gary Triplett was out with a hamstring injury.
“It was a very good scrimmage,” he said.  “We played well on both sides of the football.  It was very physical.  The defense was strong.  They allowed no big plays or scores.  On defense, we’re a lot farther along than in the past.    Strong on the line, linebackers, and defensive secondary.  Coach Hilton’s expertise and hard work are really paying off for this team.”
Simoneaux said it will be a busy summer for the Wildcats.  They start working out Tuesday at 7 a.m and will work four days a week.  “They put mind, body, and soul into it,” he said.  Simoneaux said the team will be doing some seven-on-seven work.
Simoneaux will be coordinating weight room activities for the football, basketball, and baseball teams.
