Wildcats’ Kaiden Lang, Luke Miller Headed To LHSAA State Powerlifting Championships

Kaiden Lang and Luke Miller are Central High Schools’s 2022 LHSPLA Qualifiers for LSHAA State Powerlifting Championships scheduled for March 25 and 26 at ULM Fant-Ewing Coliseum in Monroe, LA.

These student-athletes demonstrate true discipline and determination. Kaiden Lang was the 2022 LHSAA Regional Powerlifting Champion again, this time in the 275-pound class.

Kaiden was awarded the Most Outstanding Lifter of the meet at 1640 pounds Total Lift. Kaiden broke the 2002 squat record of 635 pounds on his first attempt, and then lifted 680 pounds for the new record.

Luke Miller had a 2nd place finish at the powerlifting meet with a 1,520-pound total. He also broke the East Region bench press record with a 390-pound lift (prior record was 375 set in 2019).

Karla Miller, Luke’s mom,  posted that she is so grateful for an army of support, friends who expect the best of each other, and cheerleaders to push him. “Iron Sharpens Iron”!

She said, “When I look at Luke’s accomplishments I remember our 9th grader who placed last with more than a 100-pound gap between him and the next place at an invitational but was still the happiest kid in the room. Our 10th grader who worked his way to 3rd place at regionals, and now our 11th grader with a 2nd place regionals finish and record-holding bench press.”

Karla continued, “Everyone has to start somewhere. Not one ounce has come easy for him and he has worked as hard as anyone I know to gain strength. God brought Garry Frank into our lives a year ago. He has believed in Luke and given him the tools he needed to grow. No words can express our appreciation for him as he has mentored and befriended our family. The whole Hardcore Barbell Powerlifting crew is amazing!”
