CENTRAL HIGH ALUMNI SEN. BODI WHITE CUTS RIBBON, THROWS OUT FIRST PITCH at the Central High baseball field, known as The Yard. The Yard has a new look this year, thanks to $440,000 spent for new turf and other improvements.  The Central High vs. New Iberia High baseball game was the occasion for the celebration. The new turf field was donated by the Central Athletic Foundation and installed this past fall.  The Wildcat Baseball team under Coach Leo McClure is thankful for this major improvement to the facilities.  Appearing on the field were Central Community System leaders and others who played a major role in securing the new field.  Those recognized included State Sen. Bodi White, Central schools Supt. Jason Fountain, school board members Dr. David Walker and Roxanne Atkinson, Central High principal Brandon LaGroue, Central head baseball coach Leo McClure, Central High head football coach Sid Edwards, Central Athletic Foundation members Todd Bossier, Casey Patterson, Dianna Patterson, Heather Erickson, and Gary McKenzie, head coach of Central High baseball’s first state championship team.
