Central Students to Perform in New York City For 98th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade

Two Central High School students — Levi Briley and Ethan Cormier — have been selected to perform in the prestigious Macy’s Great American Marching Band at the 98th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

Their selection recognizes the  dedication and exceptional musical talent of Briley and Cormier, who will join students from across the United States in this iconic holiday tradition.

The students submitted video auditions in January and anxiously awaited the results of a rolling audition. Briley, a junior saxophonist, learned of his acceptance to the band several weeks ago. Cormier, a junior percussionist, found out just last week that he would also be representing Louisiana in the band. Both of these students are leaders in the Central High Wildcat Band, and perform in the marching band, symphonic band, and jazz band.

The Macy’s Great American Marching Band is known for honoring America’s finest high school musicians, color guard members, and dancers. Altogether, 185 student musicians, along with approximately 40 flags and dancers, are expected to deliver an unforgettable performance on Thanksgiving Day.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is internationally recognized as the official start of the holiday season.  It promises to be a spectacular showcase of American entertainment. Against the backdrop of gigantic helium balloons and impressive floats carrying celebrities, Macy’s Great American Marching Band will take its place as a highlight of the parade. With an estimated 3.5 million spectators lining the parade route and more than 50 million TV viewers tuning in live on NBC, Briley and Cormier will have the opportunity to showcase their talent on a global stage
