How Joe Biden Can Bring Country Together, Heal Wounds, and Make Fresh Start for USA

As former Vice President Joe Biden prepares to be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States, he has called for the people of this country to unite together, and that is a worthy goal.

Of course, unifying people with such diverse views wouldn’t be easy.  However, it is possible.

The problem is, if he adopts a conciliatory tone, he will lose some of his base.

Nevertheless, here’s what Joe Biden should do if he does in fact want to “bring us together”:

Biden should declare that he is not a “socialist” and he has no intention of leading this country down the road to socialism.

He should announce that he strongly supports the First Amendment and the right of our citizens to speak and be heard.  He should condemn social media’s efforts to shut down the voices of the American people — from the President on down.  He should urge Facebook, Twitter, and all the rest to return to supporting Freedom of Speech and the Constitution.

Biden should urge our churches’ to open and announce his support for the Supreme Court’s decision in Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn, which guarantees the right of churches to open and hold church,

He should renew his long-standing support for the Hyde Amendment prohibiting federal funding of abortion.

Biden should make it clear that he supports the Second Amendment and the right to keep and bear arms.  He should say that he will not support confiscation of firearms or restrict the peoples’ right to defend home and family.

He should announce that he supports securing the border, protecting the wall, and making sure that immigration is legal and orderly.  As part of that, he should announce that any plan to grant citizenship to those here illegally should be carefully managed and implemented over time.  He should oppose “catch and release” as unworkable and counterproductive.

Biden should state unequivocally that he opposes “cancelling” President Trump, Trump officials, or Trump supporters, and that he opposes criminalizing his political opposition.

He should announce that he opposes any attempt to pack the Supreme Court or otherwise bend the rules designed to promote justice.

Biden should say he will not entertain large tax increases and will make certain the nation’s tax policy encourages work and productivity.

He should express his concern about the growing threat posed by Community China and commit his administration to protecting America’s vital interests against Communism.

He should voice his support for the free enterprise system and private ownership of the means of production.

•Biden should commit his administration to democratic values and promise to support democratic norms, even in these extraordinary times.

If Vice President Biden can do all of this, America will take a pause and begin to come together.

It won’t be easy but it is necessary, if he truly wants to make peace with a country at war with itself.
