Candidates Issue Statements on Election

SHANE EVANS
Candidate for City Council

Dear Citizens of the City of Central,
As I was encouraged by friends and family so many months ago to embark on this new and daunting journey into public service through politics, I promised myself, my family and you that I would remain independent. I promised a positive campaign that highlighted my vision for Central and its future. I have been a fortunate son of this community since childhood. I am raising a family here and those that know me know that I bleed maroon. I have a deep sense of debt to this community for the gifts it has given me. I am asking for an opportunity to serve and represent you.
In a last message before election day, I found that my own words could never express my thoughts better than this quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.:
“In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline.”
I humbly ask for your support and your vote on April 5, 2014. Please consider those candidates, like myself, who chose to put Central before ego, hatred, and the bitter taste of struggles from the past. This is our beautiful home to protect and carefully grow.
God Bless you and your family,
and God Bless Central.
Shane Evans

MIKE GARDNER
Candidate for City Council

On April 5th our city will make the biggest decision it has ever made.  I encourage everyone to get out to the polls and exercise your obligation to vote.
I would encourage you to also vote with an open heart and pick the candidates that you feel will best move this city along.
I will serve the people of Central elected or not elected, which is my passion.  My goal as a councilman is to seek the citizens’ opinions what they would like to see Central like in five, 10, 20 years.  Then go out and seek those opportunities, encourage businesses to locate here that will create industry and jobs for our citizens.
But first and foremost we must put the PETTY differences aside, all sit down together and formulate a plan to heal Central first.  We cannot win people over on the outside while fighting our own people on the inside.
We all want the same thing. We all want that beacon on the hill city.  Well, let’s get it done, let’s stop talking about it and DO IT!  If we do not elect officials that will get things done, we will be talking about these same issues in four years.  Let’s get is DONE together, get out and vote on April 5, vote your heart, not someone else’s, and let’s get Central moving forward.
