Committee Looks at Sites for City Hall

The Central City Hall Site Selection Committee met with members of the Central School Board Wednesday to explore the possibility of the city’s purchasing 15 acres at the old Central Middle School site.
The Committee is hoping to find a site for use as a new City Hall and possibly a town center.
Wednesday was the school board’s first opportunity to see the Site Selection Committee’s proposal for the old Middle School property.
The proposal calls for the construction of a City Hall south of Wildcat Stadium on school property.  A boulevard would tie the facility to Hooper Road. The committee is currently looking at four other sites: 12 acres on Hooper Road behind the current City Hall; 90 acres at the corner of Joor Road and Gurney Road; 20 acres behind the Winn-Dixie, and 30 acres on Sullivan Road at Central Thruway.
Any plan for a City Hall would have to be approved by the City Council and the Mayor of the City of Central.
