Introduction to the Internet will be held at the Greenwell Springs Regional Branch Library, 11300 Greenwell Springs Rd.  Learn how to navigate the Internet for fun and research.  For information, call 274-4450.

Saturday, November 24 • Kicking Up Your Heels • 7 to 10 p.m.

The PrimeTimers of St. Alphonsus are sponsoring a dance at Kristenwood Reception Hall, 14025 Greenwell Springs Road.  Dancing with the LA 1 Band.  Tickets at the church office for $10 per person. BYOB, optional set-ups available, cash bar.  Everyone 21 years of age or older.

Tuesday, November 27 • Newborn Care Class • 6:30 p.m.

Lane Regional Medical Center will offer a free newborn baby care class in the staff development classroom.  “Baby Care Basics” covers all you need to know to care for your newborn in the first weeks of life.  Partners are encouraged to attend.  Registration is required.  For information or to register, call 654-5263.

Thursday, November 29 • Lunch & Learn Session • 12 noon to 1 p.m.

There’s something to the old saying “An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away.”  But did you know the doctor it keeps away could be a surgeon?  Dr. Thomas Kang of Lane Surgery Group will discuss how a healthy diet can help prevent the necessity of surgery during the “Ask the Doctor” Lunch and Learn in the staff development classroom at Lane Regional Medical Center.  Advance reservations are required by calling 654-5263.  The session is free and includes a light lunch.

Thursday, November 29 • An Evening of Scenes • 6:30 p.m.

Central High School’s Talented Theatre will present “An Evening of Scenes” in the Central Middle School Cafeteria.  Come out and see live performances by the theatre students while enjoying a fabulous dinner provided by Louis DeAngelo’s.  Tickets are $15 each, two for $14 each, three for $13 each, or 4 or more $12 each.  Dinner will include Chicken Reggiano, Sensation salad, bread, and butter braid pastry.  Tickets can be purchased at the Central High office.

Friday, December 2 • Christmas Concert • 7 p.m.

Mark your calendars for the Livingston Parish Children’s Choirs 21st Annual Christmas Concert at Live Oak United Methodist Church in Watson.  The program will feature three choirs and they will perform traditional Christmas favorites as well as works by master composers.  Tickets are $5.  For information, visit LPCCsing.org.

Tuesday, December 4 • Victory Harvest Church MOPS • 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Victory Harvest Church MOPS will meet on the second Tuesday of each month at Victory Harvest Church, 3953 N. Flannery Road.  Limited childcare is available.  Moms should email Barbara Womack at vhcmops@cox.net or call 275-5255 to check availability.  Mothers who are pregnant with their first child or have a preschooler K-5 or younger are invited to join the group.

Saturday, December 8 • Merry CHRISTmas VBS • 1 to 4:30 p.m.

Grace Presbyterian Church, 9556 Joor Road, is excited about Vacation Bible School at Christmas!  Merry CHRISTmas VBS is a one-afternoon event in the activities building.  Chidren ages 4 through 4th grade are invited to spend the afternoon finding Jesus in Christmas while parents are busy with shopping, baking, wrapping, or just resting.  The afternoon will be filled with Bible lessons, crafts, games, snacks, and music.  Registration is available by visiting www.gracepresbyterianbr.net or registration forms are available at the church.  Registration deadline is Monday, Dec. 3.

Kraig Parker’s World Premiere Tribute to Elvis–Christmas Edition will be at the LSU Union Theater.  Don’t miss this amazing tribute to the King, staring internationally acclaimed performer Kraig Parker and his Las Vegas Show Band. Sunday, December 9 • Remembering Our Children • 7 p.m.

The death of a child at any age is devastating.  The darkness that sets in when a child has died is all too well known to families who have lost a child.  St. Alphonsus Church will once again provide the opportunity for grieving families and their families to come together to celebrate the life, love, and light of those children gone much too soon.  This candle light service will symbolize that the light of hese precious children will forever be held in our hearts.

Saturday, April 27 • Central Class of ’83 Reunion • 7:30 to 11 p.m.

Central High Class of ’83 will have a reunion at De la Ronde Hall, 320 Third Street, Ste. 201, Baton Rouge.  Cost is $55 per person before Dec. 31; $65 per person before Jan. 3, 2013; and $75 at the door.  Entertainment will be the Chris Leblanc Band.  There will be a buffet and a cash bar.  For information, contact Tami Helmke Misuraca at 937-4083 or email chs1983@cox.net
