Jeffery LaCour Seeks Seat On Central School Board

My name is Jeff LaCour, and I’m running for Central Community School Board, District 1, because the future of our schools is deeply personal to me.

My wife Courtney and I have four children. Our oldest daughter graduated from Central and is now about to graduate from Howard University. Our oldest son BJ is a standout basketball player at Central High School.

Our middle son Josiah is also a standout student at Central High and is on the Power Lifting team. Our youngest son Jackson attends Central Intermediate School and is on his way to becoming a great scholar. When I think about the decisions our school board makes, I think about our city’s children and the families counting on these schools every day.

As the owner of P&L Medical and a member of the Central Chamber of Commerce, I understand the vital connection between strong schools and a thriving community. Families need confidence in the quality of their children’s education, and employers need graduates prepared to work, communicate effectively, solve problems, and take responsibility.

The values that guide me are straightforward: family, personal responsibility, hard work, service, and respect for others. Parents deserve a meaningful voice in their children’s education. Teachers deserve support, clear expectations, and classrooms where they can teach. Taxpayers deserve careful stewardship of every dollar.

My vision is “Future Ready Central.” That begins with strong instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and history. It means helping students build the knowledge and habits they will need throughout life. It also means preparing graduates for several paths to success, including college, skilled trades, industry certification, military service, and employment.

I want stronger partnerships with local businesses and the Chamber to expand job shadowing, internships, and career opportunities.

I support safe schools, consistent discipline, and fair treatment. I plan to help Central recruit and retain excellent teachers while keeping spending focused on students and classrooms.

Responsible leadership also requires transparency and visibility. Families should be able to understand what their children are learning, how school dollars are spent, and why major decisions are made.

As Central grows, our school board should continue to coordinate with the community and  plan responsibly for classrooms, staffing, and transportation.

I believe people across political lines can find common ground around these commitments. We all want children who can read confidently, think independently, work hard, and graduate prepared for the future.

I welcome opportunities to discuss these priorities publicly, an
