Mayor Wade Evans Says Christmas Here Is about Our Savior And Spirit of Giving

Families in Central are busy getting ready for Christmas 2025!

The Central Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Central Chamber of Commerce, was a huge success with an estimated 3,000 adults and children lining the parade route down Joor Road from Zoar Baptist to Lovett Road.

The Central City News provided live coverage of the parade, which was held on Saturday, Dec. 6. It is still available online at Central City News on Facebook.

Central Mayor Wade Evans and Mayor-President Sid Edwards presided over the lighting of Central’s Community Christmas Tree that evening.

Mayor Evans said, “Christmas is a time to reflect on the birth of our Lord and also to promote the spirit of giving. Central is the Community that Cares. One way we are doing that is helping needy kids in our community. So far, the Central Toy Box and others have given enough toys for 800 children this Christmas.”

Mayor Evans said there will be another toy giveaway at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday, Dec. 20 at the Central Police Station.
