Conservative, Pro-Life Physician Named State’s Surgeon General

Gov. Jeff Landry has named Dr. Evelyn Griffin as Louisiana Surgeon General. Dr. Griffin, an OBGYN with strong ties to Central, is a conservative and pro-life. She became well known during COVID for her efforts in support of early treatment and to make sure that the COVID vaccine was based on informed consent.  Upon her appointment, Louisiana Right to Life said, “Dr. Griffin’s appointment underscores Louisiana’s pro-life priority to care for pregnant women and babies, and highlights our state’s continued commitment to advancing maternal health and protecting unborn children.”

Dr. Griffin, whose husband Dr. Joe Griffin is a vascular surgeon, is now the top physician in Louisiana.  That is amazing considering that five years ago she was being ostracized by many in the medical profession for her support of early treatment and her opposition to forced vaccination.

Dr. Griffin is a friend of Dr. Peter McCullough and sometimes shares the stage with him at health freedom conferences.

A native of Poland, Dr. Griffin spent her early years living under communism.  She grew up in Canada before going to medical school and moving to the United States.

A statement from Louisiana Right to Life said, “Dr. Griffin is a board-certified OB/GYN with long-standing clinical experience. Her background reinforces what Louisiana’s pro-life laws have made clear: protecting unborn babies and safeguarding maternal health are not mutually exclusive. Her leadership will help reassure pregnant patients, doctors, and the public that care for mothers is always protected, especially in emergencies, and that life-affirming medical practices remain both lawful and essential.”

Erica Inzina, J.D, Policy Director of Louisiana Right to Life, said, “We are excited that Dr. Griffin has been named the Surgeon General for the State of Louisiana.”

“Dr. Griffin has been a strong pro-life OB/GYN for years. She has testified in support of pro-life legislation with us at the State Capitol. She has also partnered with us on efforts to educate the public that Louisiana laws on abortion protect unborn babies while preserving maternal health and allow doctors to care for mothers in emergencies. We look forward to working with Dr. Griffin in this new capacity.”

“Dr. Griffin’s involvement with Louisiana Right to Life in recent years, including educational webinars and public events, demonstrates her ability to connect medical expertise with the pro-life movement. By bringing clinical credibility into conversations about pregnancy, maternal care, and emergency treatment, she will help strengthen public understanding of how Louisiana protects both mother and child.”

Tara Wicker, State Director for Louisiana Black Advocates for Life, said, “Dr. Griffin’s appointment positions Louisiana to expand public education efforts surrounding pregnancy assistance programs, maternal health initiatives, and life-saving resources such as the Safe Haven Law. These efforts ensure that every mother and baby, especially those in underserved communities, receive compassionate support and the opportunity to thrive.”

“Louisiana Right to Life looks forward to our continued partership with Dr. Griffin as she helps lead the state toward improved outcomes for mothers and babies, and as she amplifies Louisiana’s commitment to comprehensive, life-affirming care.”
