Presidential Primary March 23

Joe Biden’s quest to win the Democratic nomination for President was over before it began, and Donald Trump has just secured the Republican nomination. Nevertheless, Louisiana voters will still get to make their voices heard.

Louisiana’s Presidential Primary will be held on Saturday, March 23.  Early voting began Saturday, March 9 and ends on Saturday, March 16.

Many of President Trump’s chief rivals are still on the ballot, and their votes will be counted.

President Biden had only one serious rival, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., but Kennedy announced last year that he will run as an independent.  Biden’s name, along with a host of unknown Democrats, will be on the March 23 ballot.

Republican voters will also choose members of the Republican State Central Committee and members of the Republican Parish Executive Committee.  Likewise, Democratic voters will vote on members of the Democratic State Central Committee and Democratic Parish Executive Committee.

Before the Presidential Primary,  Republican voters will elect delegates and alternates to the Republican National Convention.  In East Baton Rouge Parish, that election will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19 at Jefferson Baptist, 9135 Jefferson Hwy.

Three delegates and three alternates will be elected from each Congressional district.  Most of East Baton Rouge is in the 6th Distict and part is in the 2nd District, but all Republicans in the parish will vote at Jefferson Baptist and be

given the appropriate ballot.
