Central Schools Maintain “A” Rating

The Central Community School System continues to hold a strong “A” ranking among the state’s top performing school districts, according to the Louisiana Department of Education’s latest accountability report.

The report showed the district improved its performance score by 1.1 points from 2022 to 2023, climbing to a 92.4 overall score.

At the same time, all of the district’s schools improved their performance scores, and all were named “Top Gains” honorees, which recognizes excellence in student progress from one year to the next.

Each school’s growth and newly calculated score is as follows: Bellingrath Elementary grew 0.3 points to earn a 91.5 score; Tanglewood Elementary upped its score by 0.9 points to earn a 90.9 score; Central Intermediate improved by 0.6 points to be given a 91.1 score; Central Middle School grew 1.3 points to attain an 84.5 score; and Central High School improved 0.9 points to earn a 97.1 score.

Central Intermediate and Central High School were named “Opportunity” honorees for performing in the 90th percentile or above for students with disabilities, economically disadvantaged students or English learners.

“We are proud of the high academic performance our students continue to show across the district. These latest scores are the result of much hard work and a mindset of excellence that we promote each day,” Supt. Jason Fountain said.

“This consistency of achievement does not happen automatically. We have outstanding students and supportive parents and community members who love and support our community schools.”

“We have dedicated teachers and staff who go above and beyond every single day. We also have exceptional leaders at each school whose goal is to create World Class organizations,” Fountain said.

“The Central Community School System continues to improve each year, and this model of continual improvement will always be at the forefront. We are very proud of these results and how they create increased opportunities for our students.”
