Two Elected to Metro Council from Central
Voters in the City of Central helped elect two new members of the Metro Council Saturday from districts representing parts of the city.
• In District 1, which includes Zachary and the northern part of Central, Brandon Noel (left), a former member of the Zachary City Council, was elected to replace outgoing Metro Council member Trae Welch, who was term limited. Noel, a Republican, defeated Democrat Eric Lewis 6,310 to 5,366, or 54% to 46%.
• In District 4, which includes the southern portion Central plus Monticello and Sherwood Forest, Central City Councilman Aaron Moak defeated Taneka James 7,515 to 3,153, or 70% to 30%. Moak is a Republican and James is a Democrat. Moak will replace Mayor Pro-Tem Scott Wilson who was also term limited. Welch and Wilson are Republicans.

ton Broome was reelected 65,495 to 50,353, or 57% to 43%, parish wide over former Rep. Stephen Carter. Broome is a Democrat and Carter is a Republican.
