Jordan Piazza, Lon Vicknair Stand Out In Races for Mayor-President, Council

The easy thing for the Republican Party to do this year would be to support an old-time politician as our candidate for Mayor-President.  Someone who is not very conservative but who could keep the Baton Rouge money establishment happy.  That candidate wouldn’t win, of course, but why rock the boat?

This year, the Republican Party didn’t do that. They recognized that the demographics of the parish make it a long short to elect a Republican as Mayor-President.  The only way we could win would be to shake things up and offer someone quite different.  A young man with a vision for the future.  A young man who believes in free enterprise, the capitalist system.  A tight-fisted conservative who will not put up with the backroom deals and political posturing that the Mayor-President’s office has been party to for most of the past generation.

When we met Jordan Piazza and heard his plans for East Baton Rouge Parish, we got excited.

It was clear this young man can reach across party lines, racial lines, and economic lines to bring people together.

Jordan is a solid conservative on a wide range of issues. He and his wife have traditional family values, and he will be an inspiration!

Jordan was raised in the restaurant business under the tutelage of his father, the famous Gus Piazza.  Jordan learned from an early age the importance of hard work, service to your fellow man, and the importance of having and executing a good plan.  As people become aware of Jordan and hear his message, they get excited too!

Baton Rouge is ready for a change in the Mayor-President’s office. In order to prevent her winning in the primary, we must unite now behind one candidate — Jordan Piazza and get enough votes to force a runoff.

The turnout in the runoff in December will be much, much lower, and the dynamics will be much better for a Republican candidate.

Metro Council — Over the past 12 years, Central has been well served by Metro Councilman Scott Wilson. He has taken a leadership role as Mayor Pro-Tem and done so much for Central in that position. Unfortunately, Scott is term limited.

So we need a new Metro Council member who shares Central’s values and is capable of serving.

Fortunately, someone never involved in politics has stepped up — Lon Vicknair.  Lon  graduated from Central High School.  After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served for 20 years, 18 of which were as a leader in combat operations. He helped lead more than 100,000 sailors and supervised a budget of $26 million. He served both as an enlisted man and an officer.  Lon is currently a supervisor for a contracting company.  He and his wife have two small children. Lon is a born leader, dynamic speaker, staunch conservative, and dedicated family man.  He epitomizes Central’s Christian values.
