Johanna Landreneau Speaks to City Council

Attorney Johanna Landreneau spoke to the Central City Council last week. Here are excerpts from her remarks:

“Thank you Mr. Mayor and Council members for allowing me to speak tonight.

“My name is Johanna Landreneau and I am a candidate for Judge on the 1st Circuit Court of appeal.

“I am the only endorsed candidate by the Republican Party of EBRP and the only Republican who has handled cases in the Court of Appeal and Louisiana Supreme Court.

“The other Republican has never handled a case in the Court of Appeal. In addition, I have handled twice as many cases in the Court of Appeal as the Democrat candidate.

“I have practiced law for over 27 years representing businesses and families. We need Court of Appeal judges that have actual Court of Appeal experience. I am a pro-life Christian who believes our Constitutional rights and freedoms need to be protected. I am not a politician. I am a qualified and experienced lawyer.

“Amy Coney Barrett was a professor before President Trump appointed her as a 7th Circuit Court of Appeal judge. She had prior Court of Appeal experience in a law firm and as a clerk for Justice Scalia handling Court of Appeal issues. She was not a judge before she became a Court of Appeal judge. In fact, neither was Judge McClendon before she became a judge on the 1st Circuit Court of Appeal.

“Amy Coney Barrett did have Court of Appeal experience, and so do I. That is the real experience that matters.”
