Gentle Giant Brings Attention to CHS Frosh

Central High basketball coach Brian Hargroder has noticed the lanky young man on the freshman team who stands 6-10. “I think he will top 7-1,” coach Hargroder said, “but more than that, he’s a good kid.”
His name is Ethaniel Rizan, also known as E or Ethan to family and friends. Coach Hargroder said, “Ethan is a good student, someone who is kind to everyone, and he’s passionate about doing the right thing. He’s a perfectionist. I don’t believe he would knowingly break a rule.”
“As far as basketball, it’s not easy when you are that tall. People expect a lot but the reality is you have to grow into your body and that takes a few years,” he said. “He has a tremendous opportunity but he needs to work on jumping and on adding strength so he can fight for possession under the basket. He has at least three years of hard work ahead.”
Height runs in Ethan’s family. His dad Andre Rizan stands 6-9 and his mom, Sarah Martin, Central High Class of 1999, stands 6-5.
