Editor Enjoys 50 Years in Media, Politics

September 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of News editor Woody Jenkins in journalism.  In September 1964, he was hired as a rookie newsman at radio station WLCS in Baton Rouge.  Since then, he has continuously worked in radio, TV, newspapers, or ad agencies.  Today he is editor of the Central City News and the Capital City News. The year 2014 also marks Jenkins’ 50th anniversary in government and politics.  He began as a page in the Louisiana House in May 1964 and in 1972 was sworn in as an elected member of the House, where he served 28 years.  He is now Republican chairman for East Baton Rouge.  This weekend, Jenkins and Central City News will be honored in San Antonio with six awards from the National Newspaper Association.
