Low Turnout Will Make Every Vote Count Saturday
Central voters will go to the polls this Saturday, May 3 to choose between incumbent Ralph Washington and challenger Jason Ellis for a seat on the City Council. Or will they? Central officials are worried voters will forget and stay home. In the hotly-contested April 5 primary, only 7,700 of Central’s 20,000 registered voters cast ballots. Central Mayor-elect Jr. Shelton expressed fear that as few as 1,000 to 2,000 votes will be cast Saturday. “This is a very important election. Please vote this Saturday!” Shelton said.
