Central School System to Launch Central Wildcat Newspaper May 15

The Central Community School System is launching a newspaper, called The Central Wildcat, to help improve communications among parents, students, teachers, administrators, and the Central community.  It will be published 10 months a year from August to May, beginning May 15 of this school year.  The Central Wildcat will cover Central High, Central Middle, Central Intermediate, Tanglewood, and Bellingrath Hills schools.  It will be distributed to every family with children in

Central’s public schools and at 200 stores throughout the city.

The Central Wildcat will be published at no cost to the Central school system.  All expenses must be covered through the sale of advertising, which will be the responsibility of Community Press, LLC, the publisher of the Central City News.  The Central City News is an award-winning newspaper that has been honored by the Louisiana Press Association and the National Newspaper Association as one of the best community newspapers in the state and nation.

Central City News editor Woody Jenkins said his staff is honored to have the opportunity to create and publish this new newspaper for the Central school system.  “It will be fun and a real challenge at the same time,” he said.

Community Press, LLC, owns CentralWildcat.com, which will be a related news site on the web.  Supporters will be able to purchase email service at the site such as marysmith@CentralWildcat.com.
