Jr. Shelton Says He’ll Seek Reconciliation and Renewal

Mayoral candidate Jr. Shelton said that after the election, he wants to work with Central area pastors to plan a day of prayer, reconciliation, and renewal.  “We need to put a lot of things behind us, and I believe we can, if we as citizens will humble ourselves before the Almighty and ask Him to heal the wounds that exist in our community,” he said.
“We in Central agree on 90 percent of the issues, and we should be able find ways to all pull in the same direction.  We don’t have to agree on everything to get along and be agreeable.  We ought to be able to disagree on something, shake hands, and then work together on the next thing that needs our attention.  There are some real differences, and those cannot be ignored.  And sometimes there are serious principles at stake.  But we ought to be able to stand for what we believe honestly and sincerely and agreeably.  Central is such a wonderful community, and it needs the talents of all of its citizens working together for our mutual benefit.  I’m hoping that this election will allow us to restart our relationships and carry Central to its full potential.”
