March 2 and 3 • Spring Festival and Craft Fair

Greenwell Springs Baptist Church’s 7th Annual Spring Festival and Craft Fair will be held Friday, March 2, 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 3, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  There will be carnival rides, games, 100 craft booths, and lots of food!  Don’t miss the live auction Saturday at 1 p.m.  Come hungry and ready for lots of fun!

February 10 and 11 • An Excellent Marriage Conference

“An Excellent Marriage” Conference for all married or soon to be married couples will be held at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church, 19421 Greenwell Springs Road.  The conference is 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10 and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11.  Speaker will be Dr. Charles Lowery.  For information, call 261-2246 or visit www.gsbcla.com.

Saturday, February 11 • Festival of Two Rivers Auction & A Taste of Central • 6 p.m.

St. Alphonsus Festival of Two Rivers cordially invites you to its 4th Annual Auction and A Taste of Central on Saturday, Feb. 11, 6 p.m. in the Family Center at St. Alphonsus, 14040 Greenwell Springs Road.  There will be a silent and live auction and the raffle for the $10,000.  Tickets are $20 in advance, admits one adult; $25 at the door, admits one adult; and $100 admits two adults and a chance for the $10,000 drawing.  For information or to purchase tickets, contact the church office at 261-4650.

Monday, February 13 • Heart Education Program • 10 a.m. to 12 noon

Lane Regional Medical Center will hold a free education and support program for congestive heart failure patients and their caregivers.  The topic will be “Love Your Heart” and food focus will be “Sweet Treats.”  The meeting will be held in the staff development classroom.  Registration is required and seating is limited.  Free lunch will be provided.  call 654-5263 to register.

Monday, February 13 • Students of the Year • 6 p.m.

Central’s Students of the Year will be presented to the Central School Board at Central Intermediate School gym, 10510 Joor Road.  Students of the Year are Vivian Ryder, 12th grade; Irene Lewis, 8th grade; Destiny Manzella, 5th grade; Morgan Rabalais, 3rd grade; and Hannah Hinderman, 1st grade.

February 17 through 21 • Camp Zoar

Zoar Baptist Church is now taking registration for Camp Zoar.  The group will be going to Pineywoods Baptist Encampment in Woodlake, Texas.  This is for 7th to 12th graders.  Cost is $165.  For information, call Cindy Jarvis at 261-3434.

Monday, February 20 • Art League of Central Meeting • 6 p.m.

The Art League of Central will meet at the Central Branch Library.  The meeting is open to all Central residents interested in the visual arts.

Tuesday, February 21 • Central Community Alliance • 7 p.m.

The Central Community Alliance will hold a Louisiana Legislative Update at the DEMCO meeting room, 16262 Wax Road.  Presenting information and updates about current and proposed legislation will be Sens. Dale Erdey and Bodi White and Rep. Valarie Hodges and Clif Richardson.  The public is invited.

February 28 and 29 • LSU Mobile Classroom

The LSU Mobile Classroom is coming to Central to help you and your business.  First-class business trainers and consultants will be available to help you make your business more successful with free, intensive, business education seminars.  Pre-registration is required for sessions, due to limited seating.  The mobile classroom will be at Central City Hall, 13421 Hooper Rd., Ste. 9.  For information or to register, contact the Chamber office at 261-5818.

March 2 and 3 • Garage Sale • 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Zoar Baptist Church, corner of Hooper and Joor Road, will have a garage sale in the gym.

Saturday, March 10 • Tea with the Darlings •10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Come have “Tea with the Darlings” and the rest of the cast from Peter Pan!  The event will be held at the Central High cafeteria.  Cost is $10 per person and includes iced and hot teams, scones, sugar cookies, and other goodies.  Bring your cameras.  Cast members will be available for pictures.  Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Proceeds to benefit the Central High Musical Theatre.

March 22 through 25 • Peter Pan

The Central High School Musical Department will present “Peter Pan.”  For information, contact 261-3438.

Saturday, March 24 • Louisiana Presidential Primary

Louisiana Republicans and Democrats will go to the polls in separate Presidential Primaries to help express Louisiana’s preferences in the Presidential nominating process.  Voters will also choose members of the Republican and Democratic State Central Committees and members of the Republican and Democratic Parish Executive Committees.
