Looking Back: Photos of 2010 Central High Graduation

BAKER — One year ago, Bethany World Prayer Center in Baker was packed for the 2010 Central High School graduation ceremonies.  Now you can see exclusive, never-before-published photos of that event here at www.centralcitynews.us.

At the ceremonies, 236 graduates walked across the stage to the applause of 4,000 people who packed the sanctuary.  The valedictorian was Taylor Ledet, and the salutatorian was Scott Campbell.  Senior class president Cody Titone good-naturedly told the audience that school officials had disapproved his proposed speech and that the speech that was approved was so far from his own beliefs that he didn’t care to deliver it.  He told the seniors to follow their consciences and do what they believe is right, which brought strong applause from his classmates.  Perhaps the loudest ovation was reserved for Kyle Belgard who had been wrongly accused of a disciplinary infraction but later cleared and allowed to walk.

All 242 seniors passed the graduation exam but six did not earn the required Carnegie units in time for graduation.
