Louisiana Iris Nursery Has Only Authentic Native Louisiana Irises! Our Native Louisiana Iris species were harvested from their original habitat: The wetlands of south Louisiana. This is why we offer “only Authentic Louisiana Irises” and only from Louisiana.

Our first offerings are the unique but well known species that include the Copper Iris (Iris fulva), the ZigZag Iris (Iris brevicaulis) and the Giant Blue Iris (Iris giganticaerulea). History records that it was these Iris flowers that served as the model for which the original fleur-de-lis symbol was designed and established by the French in the 14th century.

These hardy plants are easy to grow and produce beautiful showy purple flowers from March to May.

Our second offering is the rare, one-of-a-kind “Plantation Iris”. These native Louisiana Irises were gathered from Louisiana wetlands from before the American Revolution and replanted in antebellum plantation gardens.

Fortunately, our Plantation Irises were rescued from these antebellum properties before they were destroyed and were brought to Louisiana Iris Nursery for their preservation. Our Plantation Iris stock has self-hybridized to produce beautiful purples, blues and other unique colors.

Louisiana Iris Nursery’s mission is to herald the beginning of spring with a glorious display of color and iris beds are an easy way to win the envy of your neighbors.
