Central High School’s Brandon LaGroue Is Finalist for Lousisiana Principal of the Year

The Louisiana Department of Education has announced the 2025 Teacher and Principal of the Year finalists.

One of the finalists is Central’s own Brandon LaGrue, principal at Central High School.

LaGrue is one of nine outstanding principals from across the state who made the finals.  The winner will be announced  at the 18th Annual Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Awards Gala, which will be held at the World War II Museum this Saturday, July 27.

State Supt. Cade Brumley said, “These educators are making exceptional gains with students, guiding them to achieve at the highest levels in the state. Their commitment to student success exemplifies Louisiana’s teaching profession.”

Central Community Schools Supt. Jason Fountain said, “I’m very proud of Brandon.  He was one of my first hires. Through the years, I’ve seen him grow.  He loves kids, and he has created a great culture at Central High School.  Our students feel the school is relevant to their future.”

When Brandon was hired to join the faculty at Central High, Coach Sid Edwards hired him as an assistant football coach.

Coach Sid said, “Brandon is an innovative visionary and one of the hardest working people I’ve known.”
