Town Hall Opposes Edwards’ I-10 Plan Costing $1.6 Billion, Taking 16 Years

A town hall meeting at the Main Library on Goodwood Boulevard drew fervant opposition from the public for DOTD plans to take 16 years and spend $1.6 billion to rebuild I-10 from the Mississippi River bridge to the I-10/I-12 split.  Architect Coleman Brown, chairman of the Infrastructure Committee of the Chamber of Commerce of East Baton Rouge Parish, said I-10 would be down to one lane for three years.

This would result in disastrous economic consequences for the parish.  The ChamberEBR has a plan that would cost $100 million and take three years with two and three lanes always open.  The next town hall meeting is Monday, Oct. 24 at the Main Library.
