St. Alphonsus Catholic School has proudly announced that Mrs. Annette Nicosia is the recipient of this year’s Distinguished Educator Award for the Diocese of Baton Rouge.

Mrs. Nicosia was chosen among many nominees from local Catholic schools.  She is recognized for her excellence and distinguished service to Catholic school education, especially to St. Alphonsus Catholic School!

She will also be nominated for the National Catholic Educators’ Lead. Learn. Proclaim. Award at this year’s national conference.

Mrs. Nicosia has touched so many lives in the 16-year span of her teaching career.  She also gives countless hours of time to First Eucharist preparation, Bible studies, vacation Bible school, and coordinating the faculty and staff Divine Mercy prayer times.

She was the St. Alphonsus School Distinguished Graduate in 2007, a Neighbor’s Way Award recipient, and voted a teacher leader by her peers in the 2021-2022 school year.

St. Alphonsus principal Dr. Cynthia Ryals said, “We are so excited to honor her for being a hero in our community and school.”
