Plant World Helps Bring Normalcy to Area Families

Declared an “essential business” because of its product line, Plant World at 10131 Greenwell Springs Rd., is doing a land office business.

Founded more than 52 years ago by Gary and Mary Chapman, Plant Road is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week through May.

During the flood of 2016, Plant World received three feet of water, which destroyed almost all its inventory. 

Plant World has the most complete hardware selection in the area with 12 fully-stocked departments. This includes  lumber, plumbing, electrical, tools, paint, ready mix concrete, dry wall supplies, cleaning supplies, the most complete garden chemicals in the area, and rodent control supplies.

Baby chicks, ducks, and rabbits are on hand for Easter, along with supplies for feed and instructions for proper care.

Gary Chapman says, “We have your favorite scrubs, trees, and ground covers, all specially priced for your selection.”

One of the most popular items is knock out roses. They come in red,  pink, and yellow at $21.97 each or five for $99.97.

Citrus trees are also popular at this time of the year. Plant World offers 2 year stock, regularly priced at $49.97, on sale for $39.97. Trees include three kinds of satsumas, navel  oranges, Louisiana sweet, blood oranges, pink lemon, key lime, kieffer lime, sundance tangerine, and sweet Southern cherry.

A truckload of bedding and vegetable plants has just arrived. There are 43 kinds of tomatoes, 20 kinds of pepper, four kinds of squash, okra, cantelopes, cucumber, watermelon, corn, eggplant, brocolli, and collard greens. Flats of 36 plants $19.97.

Four pots of herbs are $3.97. The selection includes basil, chives, cilantro, spearment, peppermint, Oregono, sages, and many others. 4 inch plants $3.97
