Isaiah Andries Of Central Rises To Eagle Scout

Isaiah Jeffery Andries started in Cub Scouts as a Wolf Scout 11 years ago in 2008, when he was in 2nd grade, becoming a Bear Scout in 3rd grade, and then a Webelos his 4th and 5th grade years.

He crossed the bridge earning his Arrow of Light rank and preceded into Boy Scouts in 6th grade and stuck with it through his middle and high school years until he became an Eagle Scout this year.

Through Scouts, Isaiah said he has made many lifelong friends, learned many skills, acquired a love for nature. He has hiked in the mountains of New Mexico at Philmont twice. Those are 70 plus mile hikes with about 50 pounds on your back. He has lived on a sailboat in Key West at Seabase for a week.

In his Scouting career, there have been many camp outs with Scouts cooking for themselves over a campfire, learning survival skills, responsibility, accountability, and just having a lot of fun.

Isaiah is a part of The Venture Crew that is coed and has a lot of adventures as well. He can be part of this crew until the age of 20.

Isaiah chose as his Eagle Project to restore the artillery shells on the USS KIDD (inert of course). This required repainting the shells and cleaning the room where they are stored in.  He said, the next time you visit to look for them!

It is estimated that only 3 percent of the boys that start as Cub Scouts make it to the rank of Eagle. It is an accomplishment of a lifetime.
