New, Modern Location for Central Drug

Claud Derbes, founder with his brother Pete of Central Drug Store, passed away last month. Now the long-time pharmacy has new owners and has moved to a new location.
Central Drug Store opened in February 1998 in the Central Shopping Center at the corner of Hooper and Sullivan roads. It was in the same spot that Murray’s Central Pharmacy had been for many years. On March 12, Central Drug Store moved to 9952 Sullivan Road and changed its name to Central Pharmacy.
New majority owners John Stagg and Kaley Hill say the move provides a modern facility conveniently located on the Central Thruway with a drive-thru window. Most important, they say, the store includes the same great staff and the same personal service that customers of Central Drug Store are used to.
Central Drug Store has on several occasions been named Central’s Business of the Year. It was named Central’s Business of the Decade for the period 2005 to 2015.
Co-owner Kaley Hill, who will be on duty at Central Pharmacy, said he and Mr. Stagg understand the importance of the personal relationship between customers and the trusted staff. He said he has made a long term commitment to the Central community.
Long-time employees who are staying include Jill Miller, Barbara Sonnier, and Mike Anding. One of the reasons for the move is convenience to the customer. With that portion of the Central Thruway complete and the new drive thru window, getting to and from Central Pharmacy should be easier than ever.
