Central High No. 3 in State in ACT, AP Courses

Residents of Central have cause for celebration since the Louisiana Department of Education announced results of ACT college admission tests and Advance Placement college exams.
The state now requires all students to take the ACT exam whether or not they plan to attend college.
Statewide, Central High School students ranked No. 3 in the state in ACT scores. These scores will mean admission to more exclusive colleges, more scholarships for graduates, and recognition for the meaning of a diploma from Central High.
In addition, very few Central students did poorly on the ACT. Of 310 graduates, 259 scored 18 or better on the test, and 186 scored 21 or better. A score of 20 or better gives a student full tuition and many fees at all Louisiana public universities.
African American students and those considered Economically Disadvantaged from Central scored No. 1 in the ACT scores.
In addition, Central students earned more Advanced Placement college credit than all but two of the state’s 69 school systems.
