Protesters Fail to Ruffle Graves

Leftist, anti-Trump protesters vowed to disrupt townhall meetings by Republican Congressmen and in fact did create a chaotic environment for Sen. Bill Cassidy at a townhall meeting in Metairie.
In response, some legislators cancelled scheduled meetings but not Congressman Garret Graves (R-Baton Rouge), despite predictions that he could face similar disruptions.
Graves went forward with a townhall meeting scheduled at the Central Library on Joor Road in the City of Central. The well-attended meeting included more than 100 Central residents and more than a dozen protesters. Central Mayor Jr. Shelton and Police Chief James Salsbury and his officers were on hand to insure the safety of all.

Graves was unfazed by the protests and answered questions for three hours until everyone went home.
The Central City News broadcast the event live. After protesters disturbed a town hall meeting in Metairie, Congressman Garret Graves (R-Baton Rouge) was urged to cancel his town hall meeting planned for the Central Library in Central.
But Graves was determined not to allow protesters to alter his plan to reach out to the public and get their views.  In Central, Mayor Jr. Shelton and Police Chief James Salsbury were just as determined to make sure the event went off without a hitch.
Knowing protesters were coming, Central residents turned out strongly to support Graves. When protesters attempted to shout out questions and provoke an incident, Central residents repeatedly told protesters to lower their volume.  When necessary, they spoke up loudly. Through it all, Graves was unfazed and patiently answered every question for more than three hours.
