Darrell Ourso Elected to State House

Former Metro Councilman Darrell Ourso scored a narrow victory in last Saturday’s special election for the seat in the  Louisiana House of Representatives from District 66.
Ourso defeated Metro Councilman Buddy Amoroso by a 72-vote margin — 1,958 to 1,886.  Less than 13 percent of registered voters participated.  Both candidates ran as conservative Republicans. Amoroso congratulated Ourso on his victory.  He told supporters at an election party Saturday night that he will focus on his duties on the Metro Council, where he is considered the conservative leader.
Monday afternoon, Ourso said he plans to introduce a constitutional amendment to create the Southeast Baton Rouge School District.
