Mayor-Elect Visits Central City Services
Mayor-elect Jr. Shelton made one of the most importtant stops of the transition Monday when he visited the Central Municipal Services Center, which is run by a non-profit corporation, IBTS, that administers the City of Central.
The City of Central is unique in Louisiana because it is completely privatized. The entire city government is run by a private company on a contract basis.
In general, privatization has been a big success in Central, according to city officials. It has enabled Central to keep taxes low while providing city services and running a big surplus every year.
Shelton visited the city services offices on Sullivan Road near Greenwell Springs Road and spent time with director David Ratcliff and other members of the staff. A very productive meeting, Shelton told the Central City News.
