Jim Lloyd Served 8 Years On Central School Board

Eight years ago, a group of concerned citizens approached Jim Lloyd, president of Cornerstone Commerical Flooring, and asked him to consider running for the Central Community School Board. Lloyd answered the call and with the help of his No. 1 booster, his wife Gail, he was elected handily!
For the past eight years, Jim Lloyd has been one of the most diligent board members. His wealth of business experience helped keep the school system on a solid financial footing, even after the Great Flood of August 2016.
He sacrificed a great deal to serve the people of Central and help give them a quality school system. He continued to serve, even when he became deathly ill at the same time the flood devastated his business.
Jim has recovered his health and his business is booming. However, he recently decided that it was time to move on to new challenges and reluctantly decided not to seek reelection.
The other members of the school board expressed their appreciation for Jim’s service and several turned in statements to the Central City News.

It has been such a pleasure serving with Jim Lloyd. He has been an asset to us when we have had to make decisions about facilities and construction. He is very knowledgeable in many areas. He has a love and concern for all of our students and a passion for the arts. We will definitely miss him and his ability to state hard things in a very gentle way. I hope that he will still give us input at committee meetings. I wish Jim and his family the very best.

He doesn’t talk just to hear himself talk. He thinks before he speaks. He speaks with wisdom and people listen.

Jim Lloyd gave new dimensions to the board’s discussions. His business experience and creative thinking were invaluable. Jim’s commitment to doing what was best for our students was always evident in his thought processes.

Jim has been a valued member of our School Board for many reasons. He and his wife Gail promoted and encouraged the arts in our system by making sure many of our students had opportunities to attend art events. He also has the ability to see all sides of a situation, thinking it through and then eloquently expressing his thoughts. He is a gentleman and one of the kindest people I have ever met. He has become a friend as well as a colleague. I respect him greatly!
On behalf of the Central City News, thank you, Jim Lloyd, for a job well done!
