EBR GOP Endorses Six Judge Candidates

The Republican Party of East Baton Rouge Parish has endorsed several candidates for judge in the Nov. 4, 2014, election.

The party’s executive committee, which is elected by the Republican voters of the parish for a four-year term, interviewed each candidate seeking the endorsement and required each candidate to complete an extensive questionnaire.  The party reviewed the candidates’ background, academic history, prior service on the bench or practice of law, and reputation in the community.

Based on all of these factors, the Republican Party of the parish has endorsed the following judicial candidates:

• District Judge, ES2, Div. A – Judge Todd Hernandez

• District Judge, ES2, Div. G –

Judge Richard Anderson

• District Judge, ES2, Div. I – Metro Councilman Trae Welch

• District Judge, ES2, Div. M –

Former Assistant District Attorney Beau Higginbotham

• District Judge, ES3, Div. I – Attorney Randy Piedrahita

• Family Court, Sec. 3, Div. D –

Rep. Hunter Greene

Parish Republican chairman

Woody Jenkins said the selection process was very difficult because all of those seeking election or reelection were very well qualified.  “The party has endorsed some outstanding candidates, and we recommend them to the voters of the parish.  However, all of the Republican candidates for judge in this parish are outstanding and worthy of strong consideration.”

The Republican Parish Executive Committee has 17 members — 12 from the 12 Metro Council districts and five at-large.
