Central: Back to School

Central: Back to School

The Central Community School

System launched its eighth school year on Thursday, Aug. 7 with 283 new students enrolled so far.

Central schools Supt.Mike Faulk said he expects the final enrollment numbers to reach 4,500 students K-12 andanother 100 in pre-K.

The Central school system took over the four then existing public schools in Central from the East Baton Rouge school system on July 1, 2007.  Since then, enrollment has nearly doubled, and an entirely new school, Central Intermediate, has been created.

Most of the growth has come from transfers from private schools, students moving to Central from Livingston Parish, and new families moving from other areas. The Central system has an ‘A’ rating from the State of Louisiana, making it one of the top-ranked systems in the state.
