New Mayor Goes to Work, Sets Hectic Pace

Central Mayor-elect Jr. Shelton was elected April 5 and started work the next day.  “It’s been a lot of fun and very busy!” he said.

In the past 10 days, he has fielded hundreds of phone calls, met with supporters and opponents, and done a score of media interviews.

He had a private meeting with Mayor Mac Watts, which he said was very successful, David Barrow, IBTS, old and new elected officials, and his transition team.

Sen. David Vitter offered his support and help on federal issues. The Mayor-elect was scheduled to meet today with Mayor-President Kip Holden.
