Central Beats No. 1 So. Lab 7-6 in Thriller

The script had already been written. The Central High Wildcats, unbeaten against lesser foes, were supposed to arrive at A. W. Mumford Stadium at Southern University and be overwhelmed by No. 1 ranked Southern Lab. Instead, fans witnessed one of the outstanding football games they would ever see and a hard-fought Central victory. Central coach Sid Edwards said he hasn’t seen a classic defensive thriller like this in all his years at Central. The game featured two powerhouse offenses.
