Republican Party Supports Efforts of St. George Voters To Incorporate

 The Republican Party of East Baton Rouge Parish has issued the following statement regarding the proposed City of St. George:

“More than 14,000 voters in the southeast portion of East Baton Rouge Parish have signed petitions proposing to incorporate their area into a new municipality called the City of St. George.”

“The Republican Party commends their efforts as those of good citizens exercising their right under Louisiana to work together to improve their communities.”

“Over the past seven years, those who support St. George have been subjected to constant falsehoods in the media and from some elected officials. Leaders of the movement have been called every conceivable name and even received threats.”

“We condemn the lies and the threats and voice our support for the right of the people to make this decision. If they vote yes, we urge the City-Parish government to respect their decision and work constructively with the leaders of the new City of St. George.”
