GOP Endorsements for Oct. 12

The Republican Party of East Baton Rouge Parish has made its first round of endorsements. These endorsements are for races where there is only one major Republican in the race. Next week, the party said it will issue endorsements where two or more Republicans are running.

The GOP endorsed the four parishwide Republican elected officials who are seeking reelection:

•Sheriff Sid Gautreaux

•Assessor Brian Wilson

•Clerk of Court Doug Welborn

•Coroner Dr. Beau Clark

In a statement, the party said all four are doing a fine job and deserved reelection.

The Republican Party also endorsed the following statewide officials running for reelection:

•Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser

•Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin

•Attorney General Jeff Landry

•Treasurer John Schroder

•Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain

In the State Senate race for the Central area, the GOP endorsed Sen. Bodi White for reelection.

In the two contested District Court judgeships in the northern parish, the Republican Party endorsed Beau Brock for Division A and Trae Welch for Division L.

The election is Oct. 12.
