Central Private Reopens on Its Campus

Seven months after a devastating flood wrecked havoc on the campus of Central Private School, classes have resumed and things are returning to normal.
Central Mayor Jr. Shelton cut the ribbon for the newly-renovated campus off Gurney Road and had praise for the parents, teachers, administrators, and school board who worked tirelessly to reopen the school. In an interview with the Central City News, Shelton gave special recognition to school board president Brennan Easley, DEMCO electric cooperative, parents, and the leadership of the school, especially superintendent Wayne Cook who made the seemingly impossible happen. The process was accelerated by the purchase of six modular buildings. Four of the buildings each house eight classrooms and bathrooms.  The other two house administrative staff.  The upper elementary school is able to use the original school building.
Mayor Shelton, who served on the Central Private school board for 16 years, thanked all who helped.
