10th Anniversary of City of Central July 11

10th Anniversary of City of Central July 11

BATON ROUGE – The City of Central will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Saturday, July 11.  Central Mayor Jr. Shelton has planned a great day of family activities.  Things will kick off at 11 a.m. at BREC’s Lovett Road Park, where there will be food, entertainment, inflatables, face painting, and fire trucks.  At 6 p.m., everyone will move to Wildcat Stadium at the corner of Hooper and Sullivan roads for entertainment from the Burnhouse Band and a fireworks show at 8 p.m.

On Sunday, July 12, Central churches will commemorate the 10th anniversary, and many will show a video from Mayor Shelton asking for prayers for the city.

The City of Central is a great success story — the state’s only completely privatized city and a model of fiscal responsibility and good planning.

Everyone in Central and Central’s friends throughout the Capital area are invited.

Central City News’ 10th Anniversary. Founded in April 2005, the Central City News is just a bit older than the City of Central itself, and CCN is also celebrating our 10th anniversary.

The July 2015 issue of the Central City News will be a Special 10th Anniversary Edition, and we are already working hard to make it a wonderful keepsake  It will recount many of the important events of the past 10 years.  To advertise, call Jolice Provost at 405-8894 or Kim Powers at 921-8784.

Candi Lee: A Job Well Done.  It is with sadness that I announce the departure of Candi Lee, our business manager, who has served us so well and faithfully at Community Press for the past 10 years.  She has been my sidekick, friend, advisor, and unindicted co-conspirator from the founding of the newspaper through all the joys, triumphs, and ups and downs of running an aggressive, award-winning community newspaper.  Candi’s husband Byron is a successful contractor, and he has been trying for years to steal her away to help run his operation.  He finally succeeded.  She is a wonderful person, and she will be greatly missed.  Our thanks to Candi Lee for a job well done!
